This archaeological Site in Jayuya, is home of some of the island’s best-preserved native petroglyphs carved on a large rock in the middle of the “Río Saliente”, east of Jayuya. The stone forms a natural bathing pool, and it has become a popular stop-off for curious and travelers.
The municipality has created a recreation area (Area Recreativa La Piedra Escrita, in Spanish) with a beautiful wooden walkway down to the river so that everyone can appreciate this artifact. There’s a small car park and restaurant.
