At Museo El Polvorin you can enjoy exhibits of native “Tainos” including a wooden canoe children will enjoy seeing. The museum also has exhibits of the Navy’s artifacts when Culebra was used as a bombing testing area. There’s a wall with black and white photos taken around the island dating back to the 1930’s. The museum has movies / documentaries about the history of the island and a learning corner on the preservation of turtles.
Friendly volunteers will be happy to answer any questions you may have, they’re a wealth of knowledge.
A $1 donation is appreciated, you can help maintain the museum by also making a purchase at the little gift shop, they have great books, a few pieces of jewelry, shirts and more.
