Beaches and Watersports

San Juan, Puerto Rico

The metro area of San Juan is home of some of the finest and most famous beaches of the world, including Isla Verde Beach, which is the Best Urban Beach of 2016 as of USA TODAY.

Puerto Rico might be a small island, but it is surrounded by more than 270 miles of beautiful coastline. And it’s not just the quantity of beaches that’s impressive. There’s an endless number of activities you can do under the sun. Some offer you world-class surfing. Others feature miles of reefs with plenty of marine life to admire. Even if you just want to spend the day relaxing just taking in the beauty of white sand and turquoise water, there’s a beach just for you. It’s no wonder why a few of them have been recognized as the best in the world.

Isla Verde Beach

Clean and powdery soft, this beautiful stretch of San Juan sand is so unbelievably clean it’s hard to believe it’s urban at all. Beach umbrellas and chairs are available for sunbathing, lounging with a book or people-watching; the less staid visitors are welcome to rent a jet ski instead and patrol the cool, green swells. Frequented by both tourists and locals, Isla Verde can be lively but is seldom if ever crowded.
