In 1981, the Bahía de Jobos was established as a National Estuarine Sanctuary. Jobs Bay is a federally protected estuary and its private lands remains the only undeveloped bay lands in the entire island. The Bahia de Jobos is an estuary in which water from underground springs and runoff are mixed with saltwater from the Bay.
